Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his appearance in the drama series released worldwide as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene of BBC Drama Sherlock. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television series. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English as well as mastering several accents. He said that his brother and he first learned English by listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
